Great apartment rental in Alfama

We found this apartment on Bookings.com. It doesn't seem listed anywhere else, but it's worth a review here. Dalma Flats are what seems to be 3 apartments in a completely refurbished building (still smells of wood when we come in). We rented a one bedroom apartment for our family of four and had plenty of space. The sofa bed was a bit small for our pre-teen kids (compared to most Europeans, we are big tall Canadians...), but our queen bed was very comfy. The small kitchenette had the basics, just was we needed, and there is washer in the bathroom. The wifi is quite good, especially considering that the four of us were connected at the same time. The apartment is very well located in a street with limited traffic at the foot of Castello San Jorge in the historic centre of Lisbon. It is close to the Martin Moniz metro/tram station (and others) and has plenty of decent food and mini-market options around. Dalma also has a small restaurant attached to the Dalma Suites (seems to be their sister hotel, not far from the apartments), which is very good. The few downsides are that despite the fact that the appartment is brand new, the door handle in the bathroom is broken (careful not to lock yourself in!) and the shower head is loose. There is great water pressure in the shower, so much so that if you open the water in full, the shower head moves up and sprays everywhere. The people renting upstairs were also heavy walkers, but the isolation is otherwise ok (I've seen much worst in Europe). Thanks for a great stay!

Found this apartment on Booking.com which was a self catering apartment. Not listed on Trip Advisor. We booked a studio apartment and was given one on the ground level. Contacted the property number given on our booking and a very nice gentleman named Gonçalo answered. Surprisingly he spoke perfect English which was plus for us as we don't speak Portugese. Told Mr Gonçalo about our late arrival (around midnight) to the property and asked him how were we to to access the apartment around midnight. He told us that they were going to be fitting a number coded lock on the apartment door that day and will inform us on arrival the code to be punched. He also said not to pay more than 15 Euros for the taxi from Airport. It did cost exactly as he said for the taxi to get to the apartment from the airport. We phoned Mr Gonçalo at 11.30 pm on our way to the apartment and he gave us the door lock code. On arrival do not get put off by the graffiti in the vicinity. The apartment was newly refurbished and we were made to understand that we were the second occupants after refurbishment. The studio aparment was small with a double bed, two lounge chairs, a TV, kitchennette, a small table and couple of chairs for dining, a very narrow bathroom with a shower, a toilet and a basin unit. Bit crammed and hardly any space to swing a cat. But the apartment was exactly as the pictures on the advertisemnt which is a very positive thing unlike (or compared to) most hotels' advertisements where we found that the pictures advertised are nothing like the property. We had a very comfortable night. Only minus point is the noise of people talking / shouting making merry and cars going past the apartment's door at all times of the night. The cobbled street outside is very narrow. Therefore the noises are amplified in the night. Next morning we found that there was a cafe next door and a small quaint grocery store next to the cafe. Also found (on the web) a supermarket called Pingo Doce walking distance from the apartment. The kitchenette was fitted with an oven, a toaster, a fridge and stovetop but didn't have the microwave as advertised. When we pointed it to Mr Gonçalo he provided it on the same day. The reason, he said, was that there was no space on the kitchen worktop for the microwave. It was so small that it would be crammed with the microwave. We managed somehow. We subsequently had to ask for a chopping board, oven gloves for the oven and extra pillows - all were provided on asking. Unfortunately there was no sieve or colander and was not provided after we requested it. It was stocked with IKEA cuttlery and crockery. The apartment was cleaned once during our one week stay - we manged again somehow. Wifi was good and included free with the booking price. The apartment is situated in a central location walking distance from major galleries and museums and points of interests. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes also in the vicinty of the apartment and also within walking distance. The other negative point (if there was one) was that the bathroom in the studio didn't have a towel rack to hang our wet towels. When we queried Mr Gonçalo said that the bathroom was very narrow and didn't have space to have one. I have seen bathrooms smaller than this in hotels that I have stayed all over the world with fitted towel racks. We managed somehow without a towel rack by hanging it on the wooden divider behind the TV. This is an amazing apartment in an amazing location. So convenient to get about (by walking) the lovely city. We were so happy that we would come back again to this property.

Bellissimo appartamento posto al terzo piano con vista spettacolare su Lisbona. Posizionato al centro del quartiere Alfama vicino al Castello.. si raggiunge il Centro a piedi… il ritorno un po’ più difficoltoso per via delle salite 😅. Nelle vicinanze ci sono negozi e ristoranti. Da consigliare !

La ville cumule les escaliers et les montées, alors que sont trois étages sans ascensceurs avec des valises ? Le château se situe juste derrière, bien qu'il faille faire un tour d'une dizaine de minutes pour accéder à l'entrée. L'appartement au dernier étage était propre, offrant une très belle vue sur la ville mais manquait peut-être d'ustensiles de cuisine. Du reste, une lampe de chevet était arrachée du mur, posée à terre. L'appartement est idéalement situé de ce côté de la vieille ville. Quelques points à améliorer donc, mais l'ensemble de l'expérience était agréable.

A descrição do local para é fraudulenta, pois não são todos apartamentos que tem acesso ao jardim e que são limpos. O quarto abre diretamente para uma rua muito movimentada e suja. Há barulho em todas as horas, e você tem que fechar as persianas para ter privacidade e não ter pessoas q passam na calçada vendo você enquanto dorme ou descansa. Não há pátio ou jardim adjacente ao quarto que nos foi dado. E o apartamento cheira mal e fica úmido porque não pode abrir a janela ou a porta da frente por motivos de privacidade e segurança. Há também o cheiro de CO2 dos carros e ônibus que passam apenas 1,5 metros da porta e janelas. Não é um lugar para descansar.
